We all admire strong, independent women who challenge societal pressure and build successful careers. However, I think stay-at-home moms/wives deserve as much recognition.
Putting your professional ambitions aside and focusing on your family can be tough, which is why I have nothing but respect and admiration for Susan Andrews. Despite having the means to pursue a professional career, she decided to give it all up for her family.
So, I’m dedicating this post to her. I’ll cover everything you should know about her life to help you understand why she made the choices she did.
Susan Andrews’s Early Life
You know Susan Andrews as Tucker Carlson’s wife. I know her as one of the most courageous mothers/wives in the world and the backbone of her family. I’ll get to that in a second, but let’s start with a quick introduction.
Born April 4, 1969, Andrews is 55 years old as of writing this post. You probably expect me to tell you that she grew up in a struggling family, but that wasn’t the case.
Andrews was born in a loving, supportive environment, to a financially stable family that valued loyalty, tradition, and education. She attended St. George’s private school, where her father was the headmaster. It’s also where she met Tucker Carlson. Yes, it was a teenage love story.
Andrews was a dedicated student and an active citizen. Not only was she engaged in her studies, but she also put in the effort to serve her community, volunteering in various activities. No wonder she turned out to be the nurturing mother and wife she is today.

If I had to describe Tucker Carlson in one word, I’d say he’s controversial—the same word I’d use to describe his career. Like most journalists, Carlson started his career as a fact-checker and a writer.
He worked for Policy Review, The Heritage Foundation, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, and more. It didn’t take him long to start arousing chaos.
One of the highlights of his career was interviewing George W. Bush in 1999 and quoting him making fun of Kayla Tucker, who had been executed the previous year.
You can imagine how much criticism Bush received after that interview.
TV Hosting
Whether you agree with his opinions or not, no one can deny that Carlson had talent. That’s why he quickly moved up in his career, appearing on the small screen.
Crossfire (CNN)
Crossfire was one of Carlson’s earliest TV appearances, but it was definitely one of the most memorable ones, especially the time he brought John Stewart on the show.
While he initially wanted to promote his new book, America (The Book), Stewart ended up criticizing Carlson and Crossfire, claiming it was harmful to American politics. The two had one of the most heated debates in TV history.
Unfortunately for Carlson, that much tension didn’t sit well with CNN, so they didn’t keep him long after that. He moved around channels, like PBS and MSNBC—until he settled in Fox News.
Carlson Tucker Tonight (Fox News)
Fox News is where Carlson hit his peak as a host. After only 1.5 years, it was the second-highest-rated news show in prime time. Unfortunately, that success didn’t last long.
After stating some not-so-inclusive opinions on immigration, people started publicly bashing his show. I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said it was one of the most criticized shows in the U.S. So, no one was surprised when Fox News decided to let Carlson go in 2023.
Susan Andews’s Love Life
As I previously mentioned, Andrews and Carlson met at St. George School, an establishment that valued nothing but discipline, dedication, and learning.
At first glance, you might think it’s hard to build an affectionate relationship in such an environment. However, that school helped them set a proper foundation for their relationship, one that’s built on the same values they learned there.
Falling in Love
It didn’t take long for Carlson to fall in love with Andrews. In an interview with People Magazine, he admitted that he was instantly smitten with her, saying: “She was the cutest 10th-grader in America.”
Of course, it wasn’t just about looks. Carlson admired her strength, affection, and unrelenting sense of family. And Andrews shared the same feeling.
In the same interview, she said: “There was a bounce in his walk. He was in his khaki pants and ribbon belt, and I thought, even then, he seemed so optimistic and positive.”
Feeling the undeniable mutual attraction and sharing similar traditional values, Andrews and Carlson started dating in high school.
Getting Married
After graduating high school, the couple’s relationship only grew stronger, with Carlson sharing his ambition to pursue journalism and Andrews supporting him every step of the way.
Then, in 1991, before he even graduated college, Carslon met Susan’s father and asked for her hand. Yes, it was such a 19th-century move, but tradition was deeply ingrained in that family, so I’d say it was the clever thing to do.
You probably won’t be surprised to know that the couple embraced traditional gender roles after getting married. Andrews decided to stay home and take care of her house and children, while Carlson pursued a career in journalism to bring money home.
Being married for over 30 years, Andrews and Carlson have welcomed four children: Lillie, Buckley, Hopie, and Dorothy. So, their relationship has been going nice and smooth, right? Well, not really.
Susan Andrew’s Marital Challenges
Look, Carlson and Andrews are one of the strongest couples I’ve ever seen, but that doesn’t mean their marriage didn’t face challenges.
What kind of challenges, you ask?
Remember those anti-immigration opinions I mentioned earlier? People weren’t so happy about them. In fact, some people were so appalled by Carlson’s “strong” political views that they decided to gather and Susan Andrews: Tucker Carlson’s Wife — 15-Year-Old Sweethearts Married for Over 30 Years, Once Faced Her Husband’s Protesters Alone Outside Their Home.
While it may have started as a regular protest, it quickly escalated, with one protester threatening to throw a pipe bomb at the house and another cracking the front door open.
The worst part?
Andrews was home alone at that time, but she had the foresight to hide in the pantry and call 911. In the end, she didn’t get hurt, as the authorities responded quickly and disbanded the gathering.
Andrew’s and Carlson’s Response to the Incident
As disturbing as that incident was, Andrews and Carlson faced it with nothing but courage and strength. Obviously, Carlson expressed his concern regarding the safety of his family, but that didn’t stop him from doing his job.
He kept rising through the ranks, eventually becoming a prominent host on Fox News and reaching a wider audience. You can imagine that didn’t help his reputation.
People held boycott campaigns against his shows, advertisers withdrew their financial support, and viewers kept calling Fox News, asking them to fire Carlson. The man wasn’t doing well.
Throughout all this, Susan Andrews was his rock, supporting him throughout that professional and psychological turmoil. Even after Carslon was let go, Andrews continued to be there whenever her husband needed her.
People don’t know whether she shares her husband’s political views. All we know is that she’s doing her job as a mother and a wife.
Wrapping Up
While some might criticize Susan Andrews for not pursuing a career, I can’t help but applaud her choice to prioritize her family over her professional life. Whether you agree with her decision or not, you can’t deny that she was the best mother and wife a house could ask for.
